finally just came back after 3 days at camp kaizen- it's japanese..forgot what it meant.
for the last 45 hours me and a group of prefects were back in the very basic habitat of life- the jungle..
didn't go to school on friday and saturday because of this. we left school at about 2.45pm and reached the jungle campsite at about 1hour+ later.. as soon as we reached we were welcomed with nature.. mountain range stood in front of us, a rather sea weed filled lake or river layed below. given briefing by this faci named bang yon who caught edwin's attetion immediately.. he says he is kurang ajar maybe because he thinks he's the greatest!- so,everytime they cross paths, edwin would stare at him, then he'll say,"see! he's scared of me le!".*perasan*who would wanna stare at you when you stare at him like that was our answer to him everytime.
after briefing, we washed up..-the facilities totally suck cause there's no flush in the toilet, imagine how you're gonna do your business? the water pressure at some places is so low. we slept on cement platforms with a little help of limited matresses to sleep thru the night. the food at times were awful.
after washing up, we had dinner.. then the most fun part came. at about 10 the facis gathered our school and another school at the foot of a hill and gave us a briefing on what was to come next. the activity was- we were suppose to trek in the jungle alone at night without lights except the moon and the guide of a roped trail. hands started to get cold as we got ready whilst being physico-ed with supernatural tales. in addition, we were actually telling ghost stories among the non-muslims while waiting for our muslim friends to pray. everyone chatted nervously. before we when in the jungle, we were given numbers to call instead of names- cause they say it's a pantang larang. i was 20, nabil was 18, edwin was 19, lim was 21 and sean( form 4 senior) was 22. after edwin left into the jungle, 1 minute later i was asked to go in. edwin was good enough to walk slowly so that i could catch up and walk together. we walked fast and steadily until we caught with nabil(18) and co. at first nabil got scared cause he didn't know it was us, so he asked.." 19!19! is that you? then we laughed and said yes, yes 19 and 20 here. this was went the trek got steeper, alot steeper about 65 degrees. soon lim caught up with sean, was a relief as i knew some facis were stalking me from behind. together from no.11 till 22 which is about 11 people we walked together in the darkness, it was really pitch black. the fun part came when one by one we slipped as it was real slippery at the slopes on the side of the mountain. nabil and another friend fell a couple of times and nearly slipped down the slope to the foot of the hill. we had to pull the ropes back to avoid them from slipping further. then me and edwin pulak slip and slide down slopes. thank god edwin helped me out from the side once, if not i would have slipped down the slope. thank god again that everyone made it out safely. we turned in at 12.30. none of us slept until almost 2am. while some others stayed up until 3 cause they couldn't stand a form 1 boy's snores and the atmosphere of 41 people being packed like sardines into a dorm fit for 20.
day2
woke up at 5am. had a few games. but the highlight was the-kembara belantara. this was even awesome! we were divided into groups then one by one we were given a map and told to follow it. the map was a jungle trek thru the jungle, this time even deeper. saw a british fortress inside the jungle. climbed two hills. waded in a river downstream. after that we were beat tired. my legs are still aching now after two consecutive hikes. at night we had a barbeque competition to see who could barbeque the best chicken. this time we turned in at 1.30 am cause everyone was so tired.
day3
we were so tired that in the morning everyone slept thru the moral slot for the non-muslims. until about an hour later everyone finally managed to wake up. after breakfast we had an obstacle course activity. there was a total of 14 obstacles. the penalty of not being able to complete each obstacle is getting drenched with lake and river water as the whole course was bulid above the waters of the sea weed lake and a strean. out of 14, i failed 3 of them. lim failed 2, edwin and nabil passed everything. but in the end everyone had to get drenched as we were suppose to crawl under barbed wires filled with milky water. everyone came out milky.at about 1.45pm we left the campsite for home.
p/s: happy birthday jacelyn soh jay ern! :):)
